Main circuit breaker and distribution tariff

The main breaker (e.g. 3×25 A) limits power drawn at once; the distribution tariff (D02d, D57d…) sets the network price. Both are on the bill.

The main circuit breaker (hlavní jistič) sits before the electricity meter. It limits how much current the supply point can draw at once. It is given as phases and amps, for example 1×25 A or 3×25 A. On low voltage, the reserved capacity is agreed according to its rating, and a monthly capacity charge is paid that rises with the breaker size.

The distribution tariff (distribuční sazba) sets the price for distribution and how many hours a day the low tariff applies. The Energy Regulatory Office sets the tariffs and the conditions for granting them in its price decision, for 2026 in No. 14/2025.

Household tariffs in 2026

  • D01d and D02d - single-rate tariffs without electric heating (for low and medium consumption).
  • D25d and D26d - storage water heating or storage space heating, low tariff for at least 8 hours a day.
  • D27d - electric car charging, low tariff for at least 8 hours between 6 pm and 8 am.
  • D35d - hybrid electric heating, with 20 hours of low tariff from 2026.
  • D57d - direct heaters, hybrid heaters or a heat pump, 20 hours of low tariff; the heat pump compressor is not blocked during the high tariff.
  • D45d and D56d - older tariffs for direct heating and heat pumps that cannot be granted after 31 March 2016.
  • D61d - weekend tariff with low tariff from Friday noon to Sunday 10 pm.

Where to find the data

Under Decree No. 207/2021 Coll., a household electricity bill must show the EAN code of the supply point, the distribution tariff and the rating of the main breaker. For buyers of a house with electric heating, a heat pump or electric car charging, these are key figures.

Increasing the breaker rating

A higher breaker is requested from the distributor. Increasing the reserved capacity costs a contribution under Decree No. 16/2016 Coll.: on low voltage CZK 800 per additional amp for a three-phase and CZK 320 for a single-phase connection. Example: going from 3×25 A to 3×32 A means 7 A × CZK 800 = CZK 5,600. A higher breaker also raises the monthly capacity charge. After work on the installation, a new electrical inspection makes sense; the service connection also affects what is technically possible.
